Choosing your team
While it’s normally Business Studies or Economics students that take part, the competition is open to all students who have an interest in learning about the stock market.
There are no restrictions on group size for entering Shares4Schools. Some schools run the competition as a class activity, while others have elected students to represent the school.
Although it is up to the individual schools to decide on how many students take part in the competition, it is worth considering that the more students involved, the more difficult it could be to make decisions. As a guide, a good number for a team is between four and 10 members.
Teachers who have run the competition in the past have suggested it is a good idea to ask students to apply in order to become a member of the school’s team. This way you can be sure applicants have a genuine interest in learning about investing in the stock market and as a result they are more likely to stay committed to the competition.
